Milan Kundera: Das Buch vom Lachen und Vergessen
"Because all of man's life among his kind is nothing other than a battle to seize the ear of others."
Stimmt dieser Satz, der mir da beim Blättern in Kunderas Book of Laughter and Forgetting entgegenspringt? Und wenn er stimmt, sind Weblogs eine Art, diesen Kampf zu führen? Und was ist mit dem, was da über Graphomania steht:
"Graphomania (a mania for writing books) inevitably takes on epidemic proportions when a society develops to the point of creating three basic conditions: (1) an elevated level of general well-being, which allows people to devote themselves to useless activities; (2) a high degree of social atomization and, as a consequence, a general isolation of individuals; (3) the absence of dramatic social changes in the nation's internal life. (From this point of view, it seems to me symptomatic that in France, where practically nothing happens, the percentage of writers is twenty-one times higher than in Israel.)"
Kundera denkt den Effekt dieses Mechanismus zuende: "The invention of printing formerly enabled people to understand one another. In the era of universal graphomania, the writing of books has an opposite meaning: everyone surrounded by his own words as by a wall of mirrors, which allows no voice to filter through from the outside."
In der Schlussfolgerung sieht man, dass der Gedankengang zumindest nicht auf Weblogs übertragbar ist, denn obwohl diese als eine Art epidemische Graphomanie angesehen werden könnten, filtern sie – durch das Netzwerk des Schreibens und gleichzeitigen Lesens – enorm viel von anderen Menschen und anderen Leben in die eigene Welt und fördern so letztlich Verständnis.
Das Buch mag ich trotzdem sehr gerne.
(Was heißt überhaupt trotzdem, Kundera schreibt nicht über Weblogs, wenn er die Graphomanie erklärt, das habe ich ihm schließlich nur untergejubelt.)
